KSA Registered Kitchen Designers

The South African kitchen industry is awash with talented and skilled designers. The KSA’s kitchen designer registration platform allows us to acknowledge and certify a designer’s skill-set and industry experience.

By becoming a KSA registered kitchen designer the candidate is not only having their skills and work experience confirmed, they are also logging their details onto a national database of those working in kitchen design which will allow the KSA, as an industry organisation better understanding of who is working in the industry and how we can best assist them to grow and achieve ongoing stability and progress in their careers.

KSA registered kitchen designers sign a code of conduct and undertake to always conduct themselves as industry professionals displaying full respect for their clients, their funds, the materials and their employers.

KSA registered kitchen designers agree to:
  • Use their skills and experience to add value to their customer, their employer and the industry.
  • Recognise that they are a design professional and undertake to guide their client through the design and installation process always acting in the best interest of the client and advising them on the best course of action from a design and materials perspective.
  • Honour the brief and the budget.
  • Recommend the use of quality products with a warranty to ensure the longevity of the product designed.
  • Ensure they permanently work to upskill themselves and remain informed about new products and trends in the industry by attending workshops and training where available.
  • Respect the intellectual property of other designers and not copy drawings brought to them from another kitchen company or kitchen designer.
  • Show respect for the installers and other designers they work with.
  • Ensure their client has been properly taken through all drawings and the contract, in detail, to make sure they fully understand what they are signing.
  • Design objectively in the interest of the client/customer.
  • Conduct themselves with professionalism towards their client ensuring good timekeeping and timeous communication showing respect for their time and the space in which you will be working.
  • Ensure all personal information regarding their client is stored in accordance with POPI.
  • Undertake not to act in a fraudulent or dishonest manner to the detriment of their client or their employer.
  • Never badmouth an industry competitor but rather let the integrity of their work speak for itself.

Should a registered designer be found to have breached the above code of ethics they can be suspended from the list or deregistered.

Each registered designer is issued with a letter of registration valid for the registration period and is permitted to utilise the official KSA registered kitchen designer badge on their correspondence or social media. On registration they are also issued with a unique candidate number. This number should be quoted to confirm registration of the designer with the KSA. Designer registration does not constitute membership of the KSA (this is only available to companies and not to individuals) and, as such, does not give the designer or their client access to the KSA’s dispute resolution services unless the job is undertaken under a contract with a KSA Kitchen Member. The KSA does not publish the list of registered designers but registration can be confirmed telephonically or via email.
